Welcome to my website!
I cannot remember a
time when I was not doing hand work and making something. My mom and her
many sisters all had a hand in teaching me how to sew, knit, crochet and
embroider.
My introduction to bear making came in the early 1990s. It was love at
first cut working with mohair and while my first teddy, Theodore, was
not perfection, his hug was the motivation to continue and begin
designing my own teddies. I now design bears, cats, mice, bunnies and
elephants, along with other furry critters.
My bears, and friends, range in size from 4 inches to 24 inches. They
are all original designs and individually machine and hand sewn. I
use a variety of high quality fabrics including English and German mohair, viscose,
antique fabrics and German synthetic
furs. All creations have either glass or antique boot button eyes.
Each bear, or critter, comes with a sewn in tag and hand written hang tag.
Most of my creations are one of a kind. Occasionally there may be a
small edition of 2-3 pieces.
My creations have been featured in several teddy magazines. I love
meeting collectors online and at shows.
The below link "Valentina's Bears"
displays a slide show sent to me by a collector with Simon greeting his
new friend Carol. Simon and Carol were special order bears made for Val,
by me. The slide show was too cute not to share. Enjoy!!
