Max Handwerck "Bebe Elite" Darling character baby by Max Handwerck measures 14" tall. She has a perfect bisque head with dark brown sleep eyes. Bebe has both hair and painted lashes. Some of the hair lashes are missing on both eyes - more so on the right. She has multi stroke eyebrows and an open mouth with 4 little teeth and a tongue. She has a slight nose rub. Bebe is on 5 piece bent limb composition body with original finish and is in good condition. There is a big toe rub/chip on the right foot. Her pate has been replaced and she is wearing an antique/vintage mohair wig. The outfit is not original but it suits her very well - cotton under slip and diapers, crocheted booties, organdy dress and bonnet. Her markings are: Max Handwerck Bebe Elite 286/2. In checking Blue Book values, starting with the most recent and going back, it was not until Blue Book #12 that I found the 14-16" Bebe Elite listed. Newer Blue Books only noted the 21" size. I am not certain but that perhaps indicates that this size is more difficult to find. Re-homing Fee SALE $385.00 |

Blue sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, molded and feathered brows, open mouth with four upper teeth, pierced ears, dimpled chin, brown French human hair wig. Fine quality bisque, pleasant color, good molding. Just a couple of teeny specks are all that keep this head from being flawless. Dressed in antique white cotton dress with tucking and ruffled collar over another antique white dress with insertion lace, underwear and pantaloons, antique socks and black leather antique single strap shoes, antique straw hat. She also comes with an antique white linen coat with embroidery and lace trim. I paid $1800 at the time of purchase from NY Antique dealer Kathy Libraty. Re-homing Fee $1400.00 SALE |

An American Child by Elizabeth Brandon Beautiful 13" all porcelain doll, sculpted and made by American doll artist Elizabeth Brandon. The doll is marked Elizabeth Brandon 1980 on the back of her neck. I have never seen another doll like this one so she may be a one of a kind. Her sculpting is exquisite. The hands are beautifully done with great detail. Even the doll's body has detail in the porcelain showing sternum and pelvic molding. The socks and shoes are part of the mold. Face is beautiful with delicate painting. Eyebrows are raised slightly. Eyes are painted. Human hair wig. The head is jointed but there is eye wax and mole skin in the joint and I think the head is meant to be "fixed" in a downward position as if doll is looking down at some object. Doll is in excellent condition. There is one small repair that had been made to the bottom of the heel on one shoe before the doll came into my possession. Please see picture. The repair was well done and shows no sign of coming apart. I think the heel must have chipped off and been re-glued. Doll is dressed in original clothing - dress and panties. Included with this doll is the December 2009 copy of Doll Crafter & Costuming which includes a wonderful article about Elizabeth Brandon. Re-homing Fee $135.00 |

AM 1894 with Straight Wrist This sweet AM 1894 is just a little over 14", not quite 15" tall - perfect cabinet size. Her bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips or repairs. Complexion is lovely. She has gorgeous big blue eyes. They do not sleep. Her pate is glued in place and I have never removed it to look inside head. She has painted upper and lower eyelashes and 4 little upper teeth. Her body is a combination of compo (body and arms) with wood legs - jointed at hip and knee which are painted. Arms are jointed at shoulder and elbows. Body is in good condition, given the age. Her wig is human hair and I do not know if it is the original wig. She wears a pretty cotton drop waist dress with bloomers and slip. White shoes and socks complete her ensemble. I believe the shoes and socks are modern replacements but made to fit the period. She maintains her 3rd prize ribbon from the Land O Skies Doll Club event in March of 1994. Re-homing Fee $299.00 |

23" CM Bergman Beautiful 23" CM Bergman, child doll with bisque head, sleep eyes, 4 upper teeth on composition ball jointed body. She has a beautiful creamy complexion with good modeling. Brows are multi-stroked, painted upper and lower lashes. Pate has been replaced. The antique dealer from whom I purchased the doll in 1998 stated that the wig was original to the doll. It is a human hair wig. She also stated that the head was by Simon Halbig. The head is marked Made in Germany CM Bergman. In the newest Jan Foulke Blue Book, the 23" size is listed under CM Bergman/Simon Halbig. I am not sure if this is significant with the ID. I am simply relaying what was on my paperwork for the doll. The doll is prettily dressed in vintage/antique clothing with one piece cotton undies, slip and dress. She wears what appear to be original socks with pink oil cloth shoes. Her previous mom gave her a red rose necklace. This actually seems to be a religious medal of some type. The doll's compo body is in very good condition given its age. There are some normal signs of wear on the body. The index finger on her left hand appears to have a factory defect as it is slimmer than the other index finger. The paint appears to be original with no repaint. The ring finger on the left hand must have been broken at some time and has had a repair, which is rather clumsy in appearance. Bisque head has no chips or cracks. Eye wax appears to be original and intact. Purchase price was $550.00 from an antique dealer, at a doll show. Re-homing Fee $475.00 Sale |
